Circus Circus Reno Makes A Green Impact
Circus Circus Reno is laying out green initiatives, starting with some great advances we did in 2013.
Recycle America provided our 2013 recycling effort numbers:
• 209,309 pounds of cardboard.
• 59,455 pounds of white paper.
• 12,230 pounds of plastic bottles and shrink wrap.
• 550 pounds of alkaline batteries.
• 1,950 pounds of E-waste
• 2,900 pounds of phone books.
• 10,000 plus pounds of scrap metals, steel, aluminum and copper wire.
In Nevada especially, water is a precious resource. We have implemented a towel and linen reuse program in all our hotel rooms with information available in each room. This will result in fewer laundry loads, which will conserve water in our area.
Into 2014, we are continuing to replace our casino lighting to more efficient LED lights. This year already, we have converted the majority of our restaurants and retail shop lighting to this more efficient MR16LED light which uses less electricity. Along with all of this, we have recently installed our two electric car charging stations in the North Parking Garage. These stations are being used by our customers almost every day. We are already planning a compost program for our restaurant kitchens.
We want to offer a big thank you to our productive Green Team who spearheads these conservation plans. We are always open to ideas from our employees and community on how we as a company can help the environment. Altogether, we have made great progress in 2013 and are excited for what 2014 brings.
