Circus Circus Reno Grants Money to the Community
Circus Circus Reno is proud to be in Reno and does what it can to put back into the community. The Community Grants Council (CGC) is the committee of MGM Resorts employees who review grant requests from local nonprofit agencies. They decide what community programs to assists with funding through the MGM Resorts Foundation Community Grants Fund. The CGC also serves as ambassadors for the foundation in the community, spreading the word to nonprofits that could benefit from our services.
The grant review process begins in May and runs through the end of June. The deadline for all Community Grant proposals is May 2, 2014 at 5:00 p.m. Agencies are notified of approvals/denials in July and the CGC performs site visits to nonprofits receiving funding in September as a way to meet and greet those we support.
This group consists of active employees who must be approved by Human Resources to join. These employees have a clear idea of which areas need help in our community and which foundations could use the investment.
“I was interested in becoming a member of the CGC in order to assist the property and company in selecting qualified and deserving agencies in the area,” said Debbi Engebritson, Marketing Director for Circus Circus Reno.
In the past, Circus Circus Reno has donated to the Food Bank of Northern Nevada, Girl Scouts of Sierra Nevada and Care Chest of Sierra Nevada. To get your agency considered for a grant from the Community Grants Council, please apply at their website.
